Each milestone can include an information page with theory, instructions, images, videos and other content that customers can view in My Progress.
Viking includes ready-made information pages in the standard milestone plans. You can use these as they are or customize them to match how your school teaches.
Open an information page
Go to:
Settings → Milestones
Then:
- Select the milestone plan you want to edit.
- Find the milestone level you want to change.
- Click Save changes and edit information page.
This opens the information page editor for that specific milestone.
For changing the milestone level itself, such as its title, short name or XP requirement, see Customize a milestone plan.
Edit the page with content blocks
Information pages are built from content blocks.
The editor gives you a good indication of how the page will look to customers, although the final presentation in the customer dashboard is slightly different.
Available block types are:
- Hero
- Title
- Topic
- Image
- Steps
- F.A.Q.
Each block has its own content and layout options.
Hero
Use a Hero block for prominent content at the top of the information page.
The hero content, including its video, can be customized.
Title
Use a Title block to introduce a new section with a heading and supporting text.
Topic
Use a Topic block for content that combines text with visual media.
A Topic block can include:
- a title;
- text;
- an image or video;
- different positions for the media and text.
Use this for explanations where an image or video helps demonstrate the subject.
Image
Use an Image block for a large standalone image.
This can be useful for diagrams, examples or other visual information that does not need accompanying text.
Steps
Use a Steps block to explain a sequence or several related points.
Each step can combine its own visual with explanatory text.
F.A.Q.
Use an F.A.Q. block for questions and answers.
Customers can expand each question to view the answer.
Edit an existing block
Move your cursor over a block to show its editing controls.
From there you can:
- edit the block content;
- change the available block settings;
- move the block up or down;
- delete the block.
The options available depend on the type of block.
Add a new block
At the bottom of the information page, click:
+ Create block
Select the type of block you want to add.
The new block is added to the page. Add its content and move it to the correct position when necessary.
You can add multiple blocks to build the page you need.
Remember to save your changes when finished.
Add translations
Standard Viking milestone content can include multiple languages.
To edit the information page in another language, use the language selector in the top-right corner of the editor and update that language separately.
If you change information in one language, review the other languages you use as well. Changes to one language do not automatically rewrite the content in the others.
Customers see available milestone content in the language associated with their profile.
Preview the result
The information page editor provides a useful preview of the structure and content.
The page looks slightly different when shown inside My Progress in the customer dashboard.
For an exact check of the customer experience, use a test customer with access to the relevant milestone plan and review the page from the customer dashboard.
Styling and layout
The general styling of the information page is controlled by Viking.
You can change the content and the options available within each block, but you cannot freely redesign the page or change the underlying layout system.
This keeps milestone information pages consistent in the customer dashboard.
Changes to standard Viking content
When you customize the information pages in a standard Viking milestone plan, the plan can no longer receive future automatic content updates from Viking.
Your customized content remains in place.
If you later want to restore the original Viking content, contact Viking Support. Schools cannot reset a customized plan to the default content themselves.
Before customizing a standard plan, consider whether the existing content already works for your school.
Review your instructional content
Your school is responsible for the milestone and instructional content made available to its customers.
Review any content you change, including instructions, images and videos, to make sure it matches your own teaching methods and operating procedures.
