Set up a bundle product

Combine multiple products into one package with a single price

Bundle products let you sell multiple activities together as one booking. A Bundle can contain different products, or the same product multiple times.

The Bundle has its own price, while the availability of the activities is determined by the products included in the Bundle.

Create the bundle product

Go to Products and add a new product.

Select the appropriate product category and choose Bundle as the Product type.

Configure the other product settings you need. See Set up products and variants for an explanation of the general product settings.

Add the included products

Use Included products to define which activities are part of the Bundle.

You can include different products and add the same product more than once.

For example, a kitesurfing package could contain:

  • 1 land lesson
  • 3 water lessons

This is useful when the activities have different configurations. For example, the land lesson could have a larger group size than the water lessons.

Another Bundle could combine several windsurfing lessons with several rentals.

The order of the included products is important because the booking form initially shows customers the availability of the first product in the Bundle.

Configure the bundle variant

Add a variant to configure the Bundle's booking and pricing options.

The Price in the Bundle variant determines the price customers pay for the complete Bundle. Viking Bookings does not calculate the Bundle price by adding together the individual prices of the included products.

The Minimum number of courses and Maximum number of courses relate to the included products in the Bundle. In practice, these are often set to 1, depending on how the Bundle is configured.

Configure the other variant settings you need for the Bundle.

For more information about variants, see Set up products and variants.

Understand bundle availability

A Bundle does not have one shared availability for all of its activities. Availability comes from the individual products included in the Bundle.

When a customer first books the Bundle, the booking form shows the availability of the first included product.

After booking, the customer can use their customer account to see the availability for the individual products in the Bundle.

Instructor availability also depends on the individual included products. Each product follows the availability and instructor rules that apply to that product.

Describe the bundle for customers

The booking form does not automatically show customers a list of all products included in the Bundle. Make sure customers can clearly understand what the package includes before they book.

You can create a dedicated booking form for the Bundle and use the sidebar to explain the contents of the package. This is especially useful for Bundles that combine several activities or contain the same activity multiple times.

For example, if a Bundle contains one land lesson and three water lessons, clearly explain this in the booking form.

Tip: Include the number and type of activities, and any other information customers need to understand how the package works.

Test the bundle

Before making the Bundle available to customers, make a test booking.

Check that:

  • the availability shown initially matches the first included product;
  • the Bundle price is correct;
  • all expected products are included in the booking;
  • products that should appear multiple times are included the correct number of times;
  • the booking contains the expected activities;
  • availability for the individual activities is available as expected from the customer account;
  • the customer-facing description clearly explains what is included.

A Bundle creates one booking containing multiple activities/products.
