SurfSignal helps students find suitable weather conditions for their next lesson.
Your school sets the preferred conditions for each spot, such as wind, tides and swell. SurfSignal uses these settings to show forecasts and notify students when conditions are suitable.
You can display the forecast in the Viking customer dashboard and share your SurfSignal partner link in customer emails.
1. Set up your SurfSignal partner account
- Download SurfSignal from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Open the settings in the SurfSignal app.
- Select Join the Partner Program.
- Add your school's spots.
- Configure the preferred weather conditions for each spot.
Once configured, SurfSignal provides two things:
- Partner ID: Used to display your SurfSignal forecast in Viking.
- Partner link: Lets students access SurfSignal with your school's spots and settings already configured.
Keep both available for the next steps.
2. Add the forecast to your customer dashboard
You can display the SurfSignal forecast on an information page in your Viking customer dashboard.
To do this, you need to:
- Create an information page under Settings → Info pages.
- Enter your SurfSignal Partner ID in the SurfSignal Partner ID field.
- Save the information page.
- Add a link to the page under Settings → Navigation.

3. Add SurfSignal to cancellation emails
When a lesson is cancelled because of the weather, you can give students an easy way to check when conditions might improve.
- Go to Settings → E-mail templates.
- Open the relevant cancellation email.
- Add a short explanation and your SurfSignal partner link.
- Click Save.

If you send emails in multiple languages, switch languages using the selector in the top-right corner of Viking and update each relevant template.

4. Share your partner link elsewhere
You can also share your SurfSignal partner link in:
- Booking confirmation emails
- Lesson approval and reminder emails
- Weather-related information pages
- Your school's website
This is optional. Choose the places where the forecast is most useful to your students.
5. Test your setup
After configuring SurfSignal:
- Open your forecast information page in the customer dashboard.
- Check that the forecast shows the correct spot.
- Open your partner link and verify that it uses your school's settings.
- Check any customer emails where you've added the link.
- If you use multiple languages, check the relevant translations and navigation links.
Important: SurfSignal provides weather forecasts, not final lesson confirmations. Your school remains responsible for deciding whether a lesson goes ahead.
