Test product availability

Use the Availability Tester to find out why an expected booking time is not available.

Use the Availability Tester when a product is not showing availability in the booking form even though you expect it to be bookable.

The Tester is a troubleshooting tool. It checks the different availability conditions for one specific booking scenario and shows which ones are available or unavailable.

For normal verification after changing availability, check the live booking form instead. Use the Tester when the booking form does not show the availability you expect.

On this page

Open the Availability Tester

Go to Settings → Product Availability → Tester.

The Tester updates automatically whenever you change one of the fields. There is no separate test button.

Enter the booking details

Always complete all fields so the Tester checks the same booking scenario you are trying to diagnose.

Select:

  • Product
  • Location
  • Number of students
  • Course grouping
  • Date
  • Time

Use the same product, location, number of students, date, and time that you expect to see in the booking form.

Course grouping

In most cases, the Tester works correctly with Individual courses selected.

If the product itself uses One course per group, select the same Course grouping in the Tester as well.

Matching the product setup makes the result more reliable for that booking scenario.

Understand the results

The Tester shows a list of checks with three columns:

  • Test
  • Result
  • Notes

Each check returns one of two statuses:

  • Available
  • Unavailable

The Notes column gives additional information about the check, such as a matched Product Availability Rule, the number of available instructor positions, or available inventory.

The Tester is diagnostic only. It does not change any settings or provide buttons to fix the issue directly.

Check Product Availability

The Tester checks whether Product Availability allows the selected booking.

The result can show which Product Availability Rule matched the request.

If a blocking rule prevents availability, the Product availability check shows the rule that is blocking it.

Use this information to review the relevant rule under Settings → Product Availability → Rules.

For more information, see Set product availability and Block product availability.

Check Instructor Availability

For products that require instructors, the Tester checks Instructor Availability.

The result can show whether instructor capacity exists:

  • on the selected date; and
  • at the selected date and time.

The Notes column can show how many instructor positions are available.

If one of these checks is Unavailable, review:

  • whether an instructor is assigned to the product and location;
  • whether suitable instructors are available at that date and time.

For the complete availability setup, see Make a product bookable.

Check the Availability Schedule

The Tester also checks the Product Availability Schedule.

If the product does not use the Availability Schedule, this check can still show Available with a note explaining that the product does not use it.

In that case, the Schedule is simply not a restriction for that product.

If the product does use the Schedule, the result helps you determine whether the selected date and time are enabled there.

For more information, see Set tide-based availability.

Check Inventory

If an Inventory item is linked to the product, the Tester also includes an inventory check.

For example:

Inventory item: SUP Boards — Available — 12 of 12 available, 1 needed

This shows:

  • which Inventory item is being checked;
  • whether enough inventory is available;
  • how many items are available;
  • how many are needed for the tested booking.

If no Inventory item is connected to the product, this check is not shown.

What to do when a check is unavailable

An Unavailable result tells you which type of availability is preventing the booking.

The Tester does not always explain the underlying reason in full, but it narrows the problem down to the relevant availability layer.

For example:

  • Product availability unavailable → review Product Availability Rules and blocking rules.
  • Instructor availability in calendar unavailable → review instructor eligibility and Instructor Availability.
  • Product availability schedule unavailable → review the Schedule for the selected date and time.
  • Inventory item unavailable → review the connected Inventory item and available quantity.

After correcting the relevant setup, check the live booking form again to confirm that the expected time is now bookable.
