Install booking forms on WordPress

Install the Viking Bookings WordPress plugin so booking form links can open in a popup on your website.

If your website runs on WordPress, use the Viking Bookings plugin to install the booking widget.

Once the plugin is active, you can connect normal website buttons and links to a Booking form URL. Viking then opens the correct booking form in a popup.

Before you start

You need administrator access to your WordPress website and permission to install plugins.

Install the Viking Bookings plugin

  1. In WordPress, go to Plugins.
  2. Click Add New Plugin.
  3. Search for Viking Bookings.
  4. Click Install Now.
  5. Click Activate.

The Viking booking widget is now installed on your website.

Link website buttons to booking forms

In Viking, go to Settings → Booking Forms.

Open the booking form you want to use and copy its Booking form URL.

Add that URL to a normal button or text link in WordPress.

For example:

  • Book now
  • Book a lesson
  • Reserve your spot

When a visitor clicks the link, Viking opens the booking form in a popup.

For more information, see Use booking form links.

Add a floating booking button

The WordPress plugin can also add a floating booking button to your website.

In WordPress, go to Settings → Viking Bookings.

Add the Booking form URL that the floating button should open.

You can also configure settings such as:

  • the primary color;
  • whether the button appears on the left or right;
  • the distance from the edge of the screen.

The floating button can use a default Booking form URL for the site.

Use a different booking form on a specific page

You can still use different Booking form URLs on individual buttons or pages.

For example, the general floating button could open your main booking form, while a button on a kitesurf lesson page opens a specific kitesurf booking form.

Configure the floating button in Viking

Some floating button settings are configured inside the booking form itself, including:

  • Button label
  • Button CTA
  • Alignment on mobile

See Set up a booking form for these settings.

Install the plugin manually

If you cannot install the plugin from the WordPress plugin directory, you can install it manually.

Download the Viking Bookings plugin from WordPress.org, then upload and activate it through WordPress or your server.

This method requires more technical access and is normally only needed when the standard plugin installation is unavailable.

Test the installation

  1. Open your website.
  2. Click a button linked to a Booking form URL.
  3. Check that the correct booking form opens in a popup.
  4. If you use the floating button, check that it appears and opens the correct form.
  5. Test the setup on desktop and mobile.
