Moving customer lists or payment data between systems can become another recurring job for your team. The new Viking Bookings API lets you have a connection built that retrieves this data for use in your other business tools.
Whether you run a surf school, kite school, SUP school, windsurf center or multi-activity business, the API lets your developer connect Viking data to the other tools you use.
Customers already have working integrations with accounting, CRM and marketing systems. We’re starting with customer and transaction data, with more capabilities to follow as we expand the API.
If you use a separate CRM or newsletter platform, you may regularly export customer information from Viking and import it elsewhere. As customers book and update their details, that task keeps coming back.
The API gives your developer a way to build a connection that retrieves customer information from Viking. Available data includes names, email addresses, language preferences and newsletter subscription status. Your integration can also request records updated since a specified time.
For a watersports school using a separate marketing platform, that could mean a connection that keeps relevant customer information updated without staff repeatedly transferring files. Newsletter subscription status is available too, so the integration can take that preference into account.
Online lesson payments, card payments at the desk, rentals and gift vouchers can all contribute to a center’s daily transactions. Those payments also need to find their way into the financial administration.
The API allows your developer to retrieve financial transactions recorded in Viking for a selected period, including:
This gives your developer a foundation for bringing Viking payment data into your accounting system or your own reports. How that information is processed depends on the connection built for your business.
Several Viking customers already use the API with accounting, CRM and marketing systems. These are custom connections built around the software those businesses use.
If your team repeatedly moves the same data from Viking into another tool, start there. Identify the task you want to remove, then let your developer check how the available API data can support it.
Customer information and financial transactions are the first step. We’re continuing to develop the API, so what you can do with it will grow over time.
For a connection you want to build now, the current documentation explains what is available. You can also tell us which additional data or actions would be useful and what you would like to achieve with them.
Email us to request API access. We’ll send you the documentation and keys so you or your developer can get started.
If you already have a connection in mind, tell us which system you want to connect and what you want it to do.
